Test conducted on the blood samples of the suspected Ebola patient admitted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital in Kumasi on Tuesday proved negative.
This was after the samples underwent screening at the Noguchi Memorial Research Institute, two days after the patient, a non-Ghanaian, was rushed to the Hospital, showing symptoms similar to the Ebola disease.
The patient, said to be a Sierra Leonean, was quarantined at the Hospital upon admission, awaiting results of the test.
Mr Larweh Agyare, Administrator of the KNUST Hospital, confirming the test to Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday, said the Hospital had taken serious measures to act swiftly to Ebola cases, assuring the public not to panic.
There was pandemonium at the Hospital on Wednesday as some patients and staff virtually abandoned the facility for fear of being infected as rumours became rife of the admission of the suspected Ebola patient.
