Following the announcement of the Electoral Commission, on fixing a filing fee of GHc. 100,000 and GHc. 10,000 respectively for presidential and parliamentary aspirants in the coming December polls, some parliamentary candidates have hurled out complaints as there have been an increase over the 2016 election.

This, the Leader and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor does not see as a problem.  According to the presidential candidate, she would not bargain or ask for a reduction of the filing fee even if she had the opportunity to negotiate with the electoral management body.

In an interview with the female politician and presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom party on Green FM, she explains that she had toiled hard to found and establish the Ghana Freedom Party, therefore sees no reason why she should object to paying the filing fee issued by the EC. She says ‘I will pay, I will pay for Christ’s sake, I didn’t withdraw from the party cause from how I stood firm to found the party, I really wasn’t joking’

Akua Donkor’s comments followed as ‘…I can’t talk, what they have said, I can’t challenge them. Because in 2012, they told us to pay 200 million cedis, nobody complained. It got to John Mahama’s regime when Charlotte Osei was there, they took 500 cedis; that one too, no one complained so now if they are saying it’s 1 billion, what am I going to tell them? I have nothing to say so I will pay…’.

When asked by host of the Anopa Bosuo Show, Kofi Antwi Boasiako Ankrah if she has intended to rally like the major parties, NPP and NDC ahead of the general elections, ‘I won’t do any rallying. The campaigns don’t amount to anything’. She backlashed.

The GFP founder also denied news going viral that she stated that she was opting out of the presidential candidature because of the issuing of the fee by the electoral body.

Akua Donkor is willing and determined to win the presidential seat come what may.
