Ghanaian Highlife artist and Chairman of the board of Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), Rex Owusu Marfo has debunked stories going round on several websites and other social media platforms that he was excited over Obour’s defeat in the just ended NPP primaries at at the Asante Akyem South Constituency.
These stories were sourced to the twitter handle @RexOmarr which had tweeted “We needed serious people in Parliament and Obour wanted to be there. Good job by the delegates for rejecting him”.
Speaking to Evans Nana Yaw Quaye (Shaker) on the Gh Box Entertainment Show on Green FM, Rex Omar the ‘Aware Pa’ hitmaker explained that the alleged tweet was made by a member of the New Patriotic Party who is close to the government.
Rex Omar subsequently revealed that he has reported the handle to twitter.
He later expressed his disappointment in the fact that some bloggers could not verify the information before publishing it.
“The handle is not mine. The @rexomarr. It is an NPP member close to the government who did that. He has two of the twitter handles, one with @Rexomarr and @Rexomarr..i have reported him to twitter and the sad aspect of it is, after tweeting, the blogger didn’t check anything and he went to blog it..and that is what goes on in the country”
The ‘Paapa’ sensational singer revealed that he was one of the first persons to have given his utmost support to the Musician-turned-Politician.
He added that the fact that they have their differences in political views does not change the friendly relationship they share. He revealed that he was so far as Obour is an industry person, he had his support from day one.
