Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia has in an earlier statement described the ‘okada business’ as a harmful venture. Subsequent to this has been several reactions by politicians and governance experts bearing that the statement of the Vice President was rather harsh as the motorcycle business was a profitable business for some Ghanaians.
Reacting to the Vice Presidents statement, Mr. governs Kwame Agbodza in an interview monitored by Greenfmonline.com has said that the Dr. Bawumia’s statement is unrealistic.
“To talk about the fact that okada riding is a harmful business is unrealistic. He reiterated.
He is of the view that the Nana Akkufo Addo led government has no plans of legalizing okada business in Ghana as they keep going back and forth with meetings to create an alternative solution to the ban on the business in Ghana.
“The NPP is not ready to legalize okada. They are still thinking it’s an unsafe business.” He stressed.
Explaining further, Mr. Agbodza claims that government keeps going back and forth on the legalization process so to look good in the eyes of the okada riders; however they have no plans of legalizing the business and by this they claim to have been working on restructuring an alternative plan for these riders which he claims will not work because they have already condemned the business.
This he sees as misleading on the part of the NPP led government.
Honorable, Governs Kwame Agbodza is a member of parliament of the Adaklu constituency of the Volta Region on NDCs ticket and a ranking member of parliament roads and transport committee.
